SOUTH ISLAND TOUR 2009/2010
South Island 12 day tour
Day 1. 2009 or 2010
Arrival in New Zealand and the sights of Christchurch City
On your arrival in Christchurch we will take you to Hagley Golf Club for a 12 hole special to get into that necessary golfing grove before tackling the more demanding courses. This will depend on the flight time. Whilst you are at golf we will check your luggage into our accommodation and after golf we will settle in to our accommodation for the next three nights.
Accommodation (Three nights): Latimer Hotel, Christchurch
Day 2. 2009/10
Christchurch sights including Akaroa
A leisurely day today as we enjoy the sights of Christchurch including Cathedral Square, the Avon River and a trip to the French settlement of Akaroa. Here you can enjoy a café or two or perhaps even a cruise to see the Dolphins. (own cost) NB The dolphin cruise may need to be prebooked
Day 3. 2009/10
Golf at the Christchurch Golf Club
The Shirley Golf Course is one of the oldest golf clubs in New Zealand and the home of the Christchurch Golf Club. The club is situated not far from the centre of Christchurch and we will aim for a mid morning start to allow for a look around the central city area. Non gofers could find plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel
Day 4. 2009/10
Travel to Twizel and sights enroute
Leaving the Garden City of Christchurch we head south to Geraldine and then inland past Lake Tekapo before we arrive at the town of Twizel nestled at the foot of Lake Pukaki. From the foot of Lake Pukaki you can see Mount Cook before we check into our accommodation for the next two nights.
<>Accommodation(Two nights): MacKenzie Country Lodge
Day 5. 2009/10
Drive to Mount Cook Village + Golf at Ben Ohau
It is just a short drive to Mount Cook village so we can get there and back and still fit in a game of golf across the road from our hotel. Whilst the Ben Ohau course is only nine holes, it is up to championship standard if you play 18 holes. We will check out the best time of the day to play golf and travel to Mt Cook closer to the time of the tour.
Day 6. 2009/10
Travel to Queenstown via Wanaka
Travelling further south we will go via the Lindis Pass and stop for an hour or two in Wanaka to see its tourist attractions before a drive through to Queenstown where we will spend the next three nights. Queenstown is regarded as the tourist capital of New Zealand so there is plenty to do and see.
Accommodation: (three nights) Rydges Lakeland Resort,Queenstown
Day 7. 2009/10
Golf at Kelvin Heights Golf Club
Queenstown has one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world, surrounded by the clean waters of Lake Wakatipu. It is the home of the Queenstown Golf Club. We will try for an afternoon tee off to allow for some retail therapy before we play
Day 8.2009/10
Golf at Milbrook Resort
Just a stones throw away from Arrowtown, one of New Zealand’s historic villages, Milbrook is one of the country’s top resort style courses. We will be able to enjoy the challenges of Milbrook and the charm and beauty of Arrowtown and its surrounds. Both these attractions are just a short drive from Queenstown.
Day 9.2009/10
Travel to Te Anau and play golf
Te Anau is a short drive from Queenstown but we will make and early start to aim for a midday tee off at the Te Anau Golf Club and whilst it is a good course it is not as well catered for as the bigger club so it only can supply three motorized buggies. However it is not a hard course to walk whilst pushing your trundler (which they can spply)
Accommodation: (two nights) Distinction Luxmore Hotel, Te Anau
Day 10.2009/10
Day trip to Doubtful Sound
Real Journeys will be your host today as you travel across Lake Manapouri to cruise Doubtful Sound and visit the Manapouri Power Station.

Travel to Dunedin
Today we travel to the Edinburgh of the south, Dunedin. There will be limited time for sightseeing but if we get away from Te Anau early we will get to see some of the attractions seen nowhere else, and if we delay our golf until 1pm tomorrow we can cover some of the attractions on the Otago Peninsular before we tee off
Accommodation: (two nights) Scenic Circle Dunedin Hotel, Dunedin
Day 12.2009/10
Play Balmacewan Course + sights
The home of the Otago Golf Club is our last chance to tame a New Zealand golf course.
